Hanan is the Senior Policy Analyst at the Simpson Centre, actively contributing to the ‘Alberta Digitization Agriculture’ project, which aims to transform Alberta’s agriculture sector through innovative public policy. His research focuses on agrifood technology adoption and innovation in Canadian agriculture. Hanan collaborates with industry experts, policymakers, and scientists to develop strategies that drive agricultural digitization. He also oversees project monitoring, knowledge mobilization, and outreach, while providing technical support to various sustainable agriculture research initiatives.

Hanan holds a PhD in Economics from Alpen-Adria University in Austria and has previously conducted research on GHG mitigation in the electricity supply sector, focusing on estimating the cost of emission abatement for wind and photovoltaic (PV) power plants.
