Ymène Fouli
PhD in Soil Science Agronomy, Water Use Efficiency, Modelling, Cropping Systems –

Ms. Fouli is an environmental soil scientist with experience leading and executing projects in sustainable agriculture, water management, land management and climate change. She has led and contributed to projects evaluating best agricultural management practices in various regions of North America and Africa. Studies included evaluating water use efficiency of cropping systems, measuring water quality and characterizing hydrological systems, designing field and laboratory experiments, conducting field work and data collection, performing statistical data analyses, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Teams included stakeholders from industry, academia, local producers, watershed council groups, province/state, and federal government agencies. She is a georesources and environmental engineer with experience leading and executing projects in landfill design and monitoring, water treatment systems, and phase I and II environmental site assessments in upstream oil and gas activities. Ymène grew up in Tunisia where she enjoyed schooling, music, swimming, scouts, and exploring the country with her family. She studied geology and environmental engineering, and later attended graduate school in Scotland and in the USA where she taught and conducted research in soil science. She continued with research in Maryland and Saskatchewan, and later joined a consulting firm in Alberta as an environmental scientist and project manager. She currently consults independently and has participated in The Climate Reality Project Canada and the Alberta Narratives Project.
